Chocolate and Walnut Bread

Description

A savory yeast bread that’s delicious for breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 50 grams Chopped Dark Chocolate
  • 500 grams Strong White Flour (Bread Flour) Plus More For Flouring Work Surface
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Fast Action Yeast (dry)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 100 grams Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar
  • 200 milliliters Milk
  • 100 milliliters Water
  • 100 grams Walnuts, Chopped
  • 50 grams Chopped Dark Chocolate
  • 500 grams Strong White Flour (Bread Flour) Plus More For Flouring Work Surface
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Fast Action Yeast (dry)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 100 grams Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar
  • 200 milliliters Milk
  • 100 milliliters Water
  • 100 grams Walnuts, Chopped

Preparation

1. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water and set aside.
2. In a large bowl mix together the flour, yeast, salt, cocoa powder and sugar. Then mix in the melted chocolate.
3. Make a well in the middle of the mixture and gradually add the milk and mix it in. Then gradually add the water and bring it all together with your hands to form a firm dough. Then add the walnuts.
4. Turn the dough out onto a well floured surface and knead for 10 minutes, incorporating the walnuts.
5. Cover with a tea towel and leave somewhere warm for 1 hour.
6. Divide dough in half and shape each half into a loaf. Place on a baking sheet, leaving some space between each loaf, then cover again and leave to rise for a further hour.
7. Preheat the oven to 200 C.
8. Bake the bread for 30 minutes. Serve and enjoy. It’s delicious served slightly warm.
