Description

These vanilla sugar cookies have been my family’s favorite sugar cookies for my entire life. The shortening gives these cookies a unique flaky texture, and it also makes them extremely addictive.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Shortening (i.e. Crisco Or Butter Flavored Crisco)
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 whole Large Eggs, Beaten
  • 1 Tablespoon Cream
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2-½ cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ½ cups Shortening (i.e. Crisco Or Butter Flavored Crisco)
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 whole Large Eggs, Beaten
  • 1 Tablespoon Cream
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2-½ cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400°F.

In a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer, blend shortening and sugar until creamy. Add beaten eggs, cream, and vanilla. Beat well. Add sifted flour, baking powder and nutmeg. Mix thoroughly.

Put dough into a cookie press or chill and roll into your preferred size balls. Place them on parchment paper lined baking trays, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake for about 6-10 minutes, or until lightly brown in color.
