  • 16 slices Garlic Texas Toast
  • 8 slices Fresh Mozzarella
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 pound Ground Lamb
  • 1 pound Ground Italian Sausage
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • ½ Tablespoons Basil Leaves
  • ½ Tablespoons Oregano Leaves
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Liquid Smoke
  • 2 teaspoons Worcetershire Sauce
  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce
  • 16 slices Garlic Texas Toast
  • 8 slices Fresh Mozzarella

Preparation

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, lamb, Italian sausage, and Parmesan cheese and use your (clean) hands to thoroughly mix together. Now, add all of the seasonings: Italian seasoning, dried basil, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, liquid smoke and Worcestershire sauce. Using your hands again, mix the seasonings into the meat.

Once the meat is prepared, take 4-6 ounce sized scoops of meat, mold into patties and set aside. You should have 8 patties.

Heat a grill pan and brush with olive oil on medium heat. Place the patties onto the pan. Allow them to sizzle and cook on each side for 3-5 minutes.

Meanwhile, pour the marinara into a small saucepan and heat it on low heat. Toast the Texas toast by placing it inside a medium skillet on low to medium heat toasting on each side for 2-3 minutes. Once toasted remove from skillet.

Once the burgers are flipped onto the second side and are just about done, place a single slice of fresh mozzarella cheese on top of the burgers and cover the skillet with a large plate or another skillet of the same size creating a dome. Keep covered for about 2-3 minutes until cheese has melted.

Remove burgers from skillet and place one on top of half of the slices of Texas Toast. Pour some of the marinara sauce on top of the burgers, and finally place the other piece of Texas Toast on top and serve.
