Classic Pound Cake with Vanilla

A classic pound cake infused with vanilla.

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 sticks Butter, Room Temperature
  • 1-½ cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Bean Paste
  • 1 pinch Salt

Preparation

Preheat oven to 325 F.

In a mixing bowl using an electric mixer, mix the eggs and sugar until white and fluffy. Gradually add butter, flour, baking powder, vanilla and salt. Mix to combine but don’t over-mix or it will make the cake tough.

Grease a standard 9×5″ loaf pan with Crisco or softened butter and pour batter into pan.

Bake for 55 minutes and test to see if it’s done by sticking in a meat needle or a wooden toothpick to see if any batter sticks to it. If it does then continue baking 5 minutes and check again. If not, then it’s done. Remove from oven. Cool on a rack for 5 minutes before removing from pan.
